Dbl Red Privet; blooms dried prematurely #799925

Asked July 07, 2022, 4:22 PM EDT

I have 5 Double Red Privets, well established.  I had trimmed them last fall and the blooms were plentitful.  But before blooming, all flower tops dried up.  Moreover, there are scattered dead branches.  No aphids nor other crawling insects.  I have pictures but they will not upload to this form, please advise how I can send them to you.  Thank you!

There are many questions to be asked about your privets. Is the top picture what is left of one of the plants? We need to speak to you about watering practices, herbicides, surrounding environment and more. How old are your privets? When did the problem appear? There are many possibilities such as a soil born fungus and other biotic diseases but wouldn't diagnose without more information. you may want to call the Extension office Mon-Thur<personal data hidden> and speak directly with a Master Gardener
