What should i do about all these weeds? I only want to keep the periwinkle that I have up on the hill...

Hi Brent,

You could try a herbicide application. Be careful with the application as herbicides can damage or kill trees and the plants you want to keep. Always read and follow the label for applications instructions.

If the weeds are perennial broadleaf weeds, you could spray with a product like Trimec this fall. If they are annual weeds you could try a pre-emergent herbicide next spring. If they are more woody weeds, there are brush killers on the market. Grassy weeds are harder to control. You could try a product like quinclorac. It will also control some broadleaf weeds.

Once the weeds are are controlled it would be getting the ground cover to establish to out compete the weeds. You can also cover the ground with much or compost to help deter weeds.
