Raspberry bush problem #798442

Asked June 29, 2022, 8:57 AM EDT

Just noticed some leaves on top of raspberry bushes are curling. I have been growing raspberries for years and never encountered this problem. Should I be worried. Am leaving for a week In 2 days. Thanks

Expert Response

Slightly yellow, small leaves which curl downward and inward.
The disease becomes worse each year. By year four, the plants are stunted and produce no fruit. Unfortunately there is no cure for the plants with this virus. https://extension.umn.edu/plant-diseases/viruses-backyard-fruit#symptoms-of-raspberry-leaf-curl-virus-1793861

Sterilizing your tools is critical so use a 30 minute soak in lysol or isopropyl alcohol.
