Fig tree suffering #798397
Asked June 28, 2022, 8:17 PM EDT
We have a fig tree (20 years or more) and three weeks ago parts of it started turning yellow, but I see no bugs or rust (which it had last year). The figs on the affected area ripened but are small. About a third of the tree appears okay.
Is the fruit okay to eat, or should we forego the crop this year?
Harris County Texas
Expert Response
The fruit should be OK, try one and see how it tastes. I believe you are seeing a stress response from the tree due to the dry conditions.
