Can you help our schip laurel plants? #798096

Asked June 27, 2022, 1:29 PM EDT

We planted 12 schip laurel about 2 months ago. We planted as advised with a double size hole, not too deep as to bury the trunk, added some soil conditioner and a touch of organic fertilizer. I added double ground hardwood mulch about 1-2" deep. They grew vigorously for 5 or 6 weeks. Now they are wilting, leaves are browning and falling off and they appear on a quick track toward death. I watered them twice a week. I have pulled back all mulch and even raised the height of planting to be sure that they are not too deep. Is there any hope for these lovely faltering plants? Thanks so much!
