These weeds are popping up in a gentleman's yard and are taking over. As you can see by the one pic there is a small purple flower on them. There is almost more of this than grass now. How would you rid your yard of this but not the grass and what is it?

Hello Wendy,
The pictures are blurry but, this appears to be corn speedwell, Veronica arvensis. Flowers range from blue to purple. Leaves are round on the lower part of the stem, and elongated near the top. Here is control info.

The client should get the turf growing vigorously, with at least two applications per year of fertilizer( read the bag on how to apply), water with 1 inch of water per week divided into 3-4 applications, and mow the grass no shorter than 3 inches. These techniques encourage turf growth, and thick turf shades out many weeds from germinating. You might give the client this site, too with basic lawn care info- https://www.canr.msu.edu/resources/go_green_lawncare_tip_sheet
