Peach tree damage #795879

Asked June 14, 2022, 11:28 AM EDT

Last April I planted this nursery-raised 4yr old peach tree. Something(s) is eating the leaves. Any idea on what the pests are? What can I do to eliminate the pest problem?

Identification/Recommendations

Identification:

ASIATIC GARDEN BEETLE (Maladera castanea)

Category:

Insects or Mites

Comments:

Identification:

GROUND BEETLES

Category:

Insects or Mites

Comments:

Beneficial, eat other insects. Attracted to lights. Sometimes enter houses but are not pests.

Identification:

ALLEGHENY MOUND ANT (Formica exsectoides Forel)

Category:

Insects or Mites

Comments:

Native ant, does not sting, but has a painful bite. Not a pest in natural or wooded situations. For yards or recreational areas, treat tops of mounds with a granular insecticide such as bifenthrin or permethrin. Use correct rate, as too much will repel and not kill ants.

Identification:

COULD NOT DIAGNOSE

Category:

Insects or Mites

Comments:

Could not determine the cause of the leaf damage although the Asiatic Garden Beetle is the likely culprit.
