What happened to Corry's Deadline Slug Bait..? #795821

Asked June 13, 2022, 10:26 PM EDT

I am discovering that Deadline Slug Bait...grayish semi-liquid...is no longer available. The labels I read state that it is safe for vegetables and fruit, and is not toxic to pets...but must not be ingested by anyone. I am guessing that something changed and perhaps the EPA disallows it now??? " OSU Extension... way back.... found that the less toxic slug baits containing iron phosphate are as effective as metaldehyde baits for controlling the slugs that damage gardens and landscapes, including the common gray garden slug. Are such 'baits' or should I say 'pellets' now only made with the iron phosphate? Thanks Carolyn Cornie

Thank you for your question, Carolyn.  The National Pesticide Information Center is the repository of this information, which you can read here:  http://npic.orst.edu/faq/snailbait.html
This fact sheet from Florida provides more information about the chemical:  https://www.fdacs.gov/content/download/32845/file/metaldehyde-faq-english.pdf
So, it is not banned by the EPA, is still available, but has its risks.  I hope this is helpful.
