I am attaching a photo of red bugs What are they and how can I naturally get rid of them? Are there any predators like ladybugs?

Expert Response

Based on your photos, these appear to be spider mites. There are many species of spider mites and your photo doesn't show enough detail to make a firm identification. However, the basic traits of and controls for spider mites generally apply to all of those you are likely to find in your garden.

The good news is that, unless you have a heavy infestation, your plants shouldn't suffer any irreparable harm. Limited infestations can be controlled with cultural and mechanical methods.

Here are two excellent articles describing the life cycles and feeding habits of spider mites and the best methods for controlling them in your landscape.

If you are concerned about extensive damage or want a firmer identification, I suggest contacting your local OSU Extension Office. You can find their contact information here: https://cuyahoga.osu.edu/

I hope you find this information helpful!
