Why are the cucumber leafs curling down? Why was it seeming to secrete water?

Expert Response

First, I suggest you check the undersides of the leaves to see if you have an insect infestation such as aphids or spider mites, which can cause leaf curling and yellowing. This website offers pictures of insects and diseases of cucumbers, but nothing fits what I see in your pictures.

My best guess is overwatering which can cause the same symptoms of leaf stress. The most common sign of stress is leaf wilting and dripping, which can be associated with over-watering the plant. The moisture level of the soil near the root zone of the affected cucumber plants should be moist and pliable, not dry and crumbly, or wet and dripping, like I see in your pictures. When you plant the potted plants in your garden, you might want to dig a hole, fill it with water, and watch that the hole drains. Cucumbers need good drainage and do not like to sit in water.
