Hi!
The pink/tan coloring and shape of the patches tells us this is likely Red-Thread, a fungal disease on turf. We do not recommend using Headway to treat. Can you tell us about your fertilizer routine for your lawn? Lawns with fertility problems tend to be more susceptible to this disease and following a lawn fertilization schedule can help to prevent additional infections.
You might benefit from a laboratory soil test if you haven't had one in the last few years. Results of the test will give readings for pH, organic matter, and nutrient content. Basic soil tests typically cost $11 - $20, plus mailing costs. You will find everything about soil testing here on our website. https://extension.umd.edu/resource/soil-testing-maryland-and-soil-testing-labs
If you're experiencing problems with your lawn, it isn't just you! Maryland is uniquely positioned in a climate transition zone which is not favorable for growing lawn grasses. The transition zone is a region of the United States where temperate and subtropical climates meet. This makes it a constant challenge to try to maintain a healthy lawn. There are some attractive options to consider if reducing your lawn interests you. https://extension.umd.edu/resource/lawn-alternatives.
