Poison Hemlock #794308

Asked June 05, 2022, 12:25 PM EDT

Our property backs up to a creek and retention basin. The creek area is maintained by the city to make sure it flows freely. I believe there may be poison hemlock growing along the creek. I was wondering if this is something that should be reported to the city for safe removal. We have lived here for over 20 years and this is the first time I've noticed this. There are some plants flowering now and some that are still in the rosette stage.

Expert Response

i would begin with the city. Being close to water makes spraying weed control a problem. I would spray carefully away from the water if possible. I suspect you will have this problem for awhile. You might want to contact your OSU horticultural office to ask them for solutions in your area.
