Park Turf Die Off #794093

Good afternoon, my name is Ben Gratton. I am the horticulture Parks Supervisor for the City of Longmont. I have been inspecting numerous parks (and school district properties) and stumped as to why large areas of turf are dead. They are in irregular patterns and don't seem to me to have signs of disease. I am curious if other communities have asked this question as well. I am wondering if this is due to warm weather we had last fall/winter with lack of moisture followed by warm weather and lack of moisture in March, April and May. I know for the City of Longmont, we did not turn our irrigation on and consistently water until the middle of May. I am wondering if this damage is drought related or something else. It looks as though it could be grubs or thatch build up (similar symptoms that I have read about) but I know thatch is generally not an issue on the front range. Would anyone with CSU Extension be willing to meet on site to take a look? For reference, there are large dead areas at Stephen Day Park (1340 Deerwood Drive), Blue Skies Park (1520 Mountain Drive) or the property line between Kanemoto Park and the school (1151 S. Pratt Parkway).
