Colorado Blue Spruce #793737

I have a Colorado blue spruce with some yellowing needles. Picture of the full tree and a closeup of one of the affected areas is attached. There are typical new blue shoots the normally green old growth is yellowish in some places on the tree. None of my other blue spruces have this happening. Some of them have some brown needles so I sprayed all my conifers with a fungicide. Are the yellow needles in the process of dying? Jesse

Thank you for contacting Ask Extension!  This yellowing typically indicates a problem with the roots, usually from the soil remaining wet.  It can also be caused by application of some pesticides, which can remove the waxy layer that gives the needles their bluish color.  More detailed information is available here:
