Bee/Wasp Identification and Removal Options #793488

Asked May 31, 2022, 2:15 PM EDT

I think, but am not sure that these are bees of some sort. No matter what, I need them removed from the side of my koi pond and I am not sure how or who can do this. I have a flower garden right next to this area and the grandkids love to feed the fish and watch the frogs. They are swarming all over the waterfall area of my pond. I also want to be environmentally safe to my fish and plants in and around the pond.

Those are the common honey bee.  There is no effective way to keep them from visiting your pond.  Even if you located and eliminated the closest hives, bees from farther away might come do the same thing.  They are taking water back to the hive to use as a cooling system- they regurgitate the water inside the hive and the hive is then cooled as the water evaporates.  The bees will be less prevalent if the daytime temperatures are cooler.
