Pests on Honey Locust tree #792994

Asked May 27, 2022, 3:50 PM EDT

I noticed small flying insects ( they look to be Black ) on my 4 year old otherwise healthy honeylocust tree. They are eating the leaves and it looks a little rough. What could this be? How do I support the tree? ANy treatment?

Expert Response

The damage to the leaves looks like damage caused by the Honeylocust Plant Bug although they are green, not black. You might try hosing off the foliage to dislodge the insects since your tree sounds relatively small. There are insecticides that can be used but they need to be applied early; application after serious symptoms have developed provides little benefit.
