allium leaf miner. #792503

Asked May 24, 2022, 8:11 PM EDT

More of a statement than a question. I have a terrible infestation of allium leaf miner on my market garlic crop---100% infestation of those I have dug (3 large beds) so far. I am in Worcester Co and felt that you might want to compile this information. After growing garlic for farmer's market for 20 years, I may have to give up since it appears that controls may be too costly (Aza-Direct) or too time intensive (covering all beds with Ag 15 before spring emergence of adults.) If I try to grow once more season I will be on guard from early spring, but even with meticulously grubbing out infected plants, planting a mustard cover crop, and practicing rotation of my crops I have an enormous crop loss this year. Hope this helps with tracking the pest invasion.
