Weeping Crab Apple tree Diseased? #792297
Asked May 23, 2022, 5:34 PM EDT
I wonder if our crab apple tree is dying and should be removed. We have only lived in this house for less than a year, so we didn't see how it bloomed last spring, but this year it looks like the leaves and flowers are drying up. There are many suckers at the base of the tree. The branches are criss-crossed and covered in moss. Thank you for your help.

Expert Response
Thank you for your question, Marianne. There 40 known diseases of tha Malus (apple) species, and more information would be necessary to give you a correct diagnosis. I suggest that you contact the OSU Plant Disease Clinic to submit a sample for analysis. Here is their website: https://bpp.oregonstate.edu/plant-clinic
