Is this blight on tomato plant? #792292

Asked May 23, 2022, 5:10 PM EDT

Planted the seedling in early May, in a pot, not near any other plants other than a mint plant which is in its own pot. The leaves and stem started doing this about a week ago. Seem to have some pinprick sized dots on the main stem, too. Is this blight? Isn’t it too early for that? Will a baking soda treatment actually work?

Expert Response

Hi - Actually this looks like cold damage to me. Tomatoes don't like to be in temperatures below 50 and we did have some cold nights. I would just bring them in or cover them any time the temps go down into the 40s. If they seem to be doing worse, I would contact the UConn Plant Diagnostic Lab to see about sending in a sample for an accurate diagnosis.
