This very large hornet was in our home. After trying to figure out what it was we thought it was an Asian giant hornet but it says they are not in md. Can you please help identify?

Asian Giant Hornets (aka "murder hornets or Asian giant hornets") have been found in Washington State and British Columbia. The Maryland Department of Agriculture is monitoring for them and they have not been found in Maryland or anywhere on the east coast of the United States. Here is a link for information about them.
