I found a plant that I couldn't identify, I suspect that it is somehow related to the Speedwell that you'd normally see here, but these tiny flowers are not only blue but pink as well! Any idea what these may be? I included two photos (put together in a collage) of the flowers under a magnifying glass as well as a side-by-side with Speedwell and a photo of the entire plant.

Your guest is right. it's speedwell. Many varieties of Veronica ssp.exist like Persian, common, ivyleaf, creeping, American and corn speedwell. Their flowers vary in size and while the main color is blue, some variation exist from white to purple, shade of blue and bi-color.
