Weed ID and crontrol question #790652
Asked May 13, 2022, 3:24 PM EDT
Hello! Can you help ID this lawn invader? It stays low to the ground. I've never seen it blossom. It seems to spread by its roots, in patches, gradually more every year. It seems resistant to "weed 'n feed." I once even directly sprayed it, yet it seemed only mildly annoyed. I'm not recognizing this in online photos anywhere. Photo attached. Thanks!

Expert Response
The lawn weed is creeping bellflower. It bears flowers when it's undisturbed in favorable growing conditions but not in lawns where it's cut back frequently.
Creeping bellflower is notoriously difficult to manage because it's herbicide resistant and deeply rooted. Any root fragments that remain in the soil generate new plants.
