Well, you have interesting find. While I cannot absolutely confirm that it is a mastodon tooth, that actually may be pretty good guess. It is clearly a tooth (or actually a portion of a tooth...missing the root) as evidenced by the enamel coating that is flaking off and the softer dentine of the inner portion. I am estimating the size of the object and assuming it is on an 8.5x11" sheet of paper. Can you verify the size for me?
