I need help identifying this tree stump.

The bark on these stumps suggests possible oak but without some additional characteristics such as buds, or even leaves or fruits that fell last year it would be difficult to be sure. 
I'm sorry. I just submitted, but the seeds I was wondering about is actually this one. The other seed photo I sent is a box elder I think.

Yes, those look like developing elm seeds to me. Are those on the same tree as these leaves? The leaves are a bit trickier because there is variation and they seem to be just developing. They do have the toothed margins we usually associate with elm.
