Beneficial worm castings or grub damage? #787576

Hi - I am a relatively new homeowner in the Twin Cities metro and last fall the day after a rainstorm I noticed a bunch of small mounds in my front yard. With the grass cut shorter for winter it was easier to see the mounds, which were roughly 1-2" wide and at most 1" tall. After a bit of googling I initially thought they might be worm castings, but the shape/texture of the mounds doesn't quite match what I am seeing in online images. I want to make sure the mounds aren't an issue from something like grubs that would cause damage to my lawn, but not finding a whole lot on what grub mounds would look like. Thanks in advance!

Congratulations on your new home. What you are seeing are mounds caused by earthworms/nightcrawlers. Grubs do not make mounds but are below ground. You are fine.
