My neighbor and I have noticed some tunneling n the grass between our houses and the grass is not greening up like the rest of the yard.

Hello,
There are several animals that like to tunnel or dig through the lawn. The two most common culprits in the home landscape are moles and voles.
The tunneling that I see in your pictures look to be vole tunnels. Moles leave big piles of dirt along the surface of their route and I'm not seeing that in your pictures.
That being said, identification can be confirmed only by further investigation by you and your neighbor on site. If the tunneling is severe, it might be a good idea to contact a professional who specializes in control of nuisance wildlife.
I have listed some links for articles about moles and voles down below. These should help with the proper identification of the animal.
There is also information in the articles about the management of the nuisance animals. Trapping is a good option if the problem is less severe. Habitat modification and exclusion will make your yard less inviting to voles and moles. Predators such as hawks and owls prey on voles and moles.
Poison bait should be the last resort in control. Children, pets and wildlife can be harmed or killed by baits and traps. Keep in mind that many poisons are regulated and can only be applied by a person with a pesticide applicator permit. By law, all chemical/bait label directions must be followed precisely.
I have listed the web address for the OSU extension office in Medina County. The extension agents should have some suggestions for you as well as a list of professionals whose job is controlling nuisance wildlife.
Feel free to write back if you should have more questions.
Thanks for asking Ask Extension.
