Large Round Patches of grass #785632

Asked March 31, 2022, 9:24 AM EDT

Hello! I’m grateful for the help you provide. My next door neighbor has large, circular shaped patches of grass surrounded by shorter, yellowed looking grass. The photo is from late March, it’s more pronounced when the grass is fully in growth. They kindly mow some of my lawn however I’m worried it will spread all over my lawn. Can you please tell me if you can identify it by photo? If so, how do I treat it? Thank you! Colleen

Expert Response

Good Morning,
Unfortunately, it is nearly impossible to diagnose turf diseases in this forum. However, you can use a hand lens to look at your grass blades, and compare to the diseases here, you may be able to spot something. http://www.msuturfdiseases.net/browse-by-name/ You could also contact MSU Plant Diagnostic lab and send in a sod sample. https://www.canr.msu.edu/pestid/

I hope this helps. Thanks for using our service.
