Pecan Tree with Bark Loss #785630

Asked March 31, 2022, 9:10 AM EDT

40 year old pecan tree has a lot of bark loss after last weeks storm. Hasn't sprouted new leaves yet. I am wondering if the bark loss is significant damage. I can be reached most easily at<personal data hidden>.

Expert Response

I haven't seen any pecans break bud yet, but I'm sure it will occur in the next week or so. I'd recommend having the tree evaluated by a certified arborist to see if there are any issues which may have led to the bark drop. Here is a link to find a certified arborist in your area. https://www.treesaregood.org/findanarborist/arboristsearch
Thanks for the question.
