Dear Carole:
We believe that the flower in the picture is a Rudbeckia Triloba (common names: Brown-eyed Susan or Thin-leaved Coneflower). The leaves on the stem are slightly toothed and some of the lower leaves are three-lobed. The stem is hairy and branched. The 8 to 10 rays (petals) of the flower are proportionally wider than those of the Black-eyed Susan and the flowers are more numerous than the Black-eyed Susan.
