Everbearing Strawberries in Raised Bed #778294

Asked November 23, 2021, 5:05 PM EST

Hello, I've learned Everbearing Strawberries do not need the pruning like June Strawberries. They do need the runners snipped. Do they also need crop rotation after 3 years if grown in a raised garden bed or would supplementing the soil with leaves, mulch and fertilizer be sufficient? Lettuce will also be grown in this bed. Thank you,

Polk County Iowa

Expert Response

Everbearing strawberries, even those well-cared for, mulched, and fertilized, are much less productive after 2 to 3 years and benefit from being replanted every 2 to 3 years.
