From your note, I see that you have already contacted our Hotline and decided on a good plan of action. I do have a couple of thoughts, though. Have you had a soil test done on your lawn?
Soil tests give valuable information regarding the make-up of your soil such as phosphorus and potassium levels, pH, type of soil, among other information. It will also advise you about how much fertilizer is needed for your lawn. My concern about a contracted lawn service is that the fertilizer that they use may not match the needs of your lawn. https://homesoiltest.msu.edu/
Also, I would consider the use of a pre-emergent and post-emergent weed control in the spring and fall. You could apply these yourself, along with spot weed control.
