Unfortunately, we can't see enough detail to be able to identify this spider; several hundred species of spider occur in Maryland. From what we can see, though, it is not one of our two medically significant species (black widow or brown recluse). Since spiders in the home only feed on other arthropods - especially nuisance species like flies - they are considered beneficial to have around. You can of course capture them and relocate them outside instead if you prefer.
