May i ask what kind of bug is it? #776105

Asked October 22, 2021, 4:04 AM EDT

These bugs usually appears in my bed room near the balcony where i grew plants. I've had some incidents with kissing bug before and i assume that these arent kissing bug judging by their body proportion and wings pattern. And i don't seem to have been bitten by them. They have long needle-like mouth and a total of 3 were found dead in my room. I think i saw a big one crawling onto my door and fly away too. Are they considered pests and what can i do to prevent them?

Thanh you in advance

Hello,
This appears to be an Ozophora picturata; a species of dirt-colored seed bug. I can't tell the size from this photo, but these insects are .2 to .3 inches in length.  They are usually not harmful to humans.  They appear to be attracted to light.  The fact that they are near a window may confirm this.  Keeping your windows sealed could help with keeping them out of your home.
Here is an article on a similar species, which discusses other controls: https://ohioline.osu.edu/factsheet/HYG-2106
Be sure to follow all label directions for any pesticide.
I hope this helps!
