Figs are splitting open which I found was due to too much water. Question is there anything i can use to keep bees and fruit flies off of the figs?

Figs don't continue to ripen off the tree, but usually if you have bees, European hornets(these are very large) and other insects feeding, it often means they are ready to pick.

If you don't think so, you could try tying on small bags (small mesh/organza bags with drawstrings, sometimes used for gifts are available at craft and other stores).
