Rat or mice mites #774086

Asked October 04, 2021, 8:29 AM EDT

2 years ago we had rats or mice, the company came in and put poison out to look kill them needless to say they died in our furniture, I didn't know anything about these things so a few days later we felt like a million tiny things crawling on us, it has taken us over a year and half to get rid of these mites in the house.....but they are still on us they have burrowed under the skin. I have been to 3 different dermatologist, taken multiple medications even ivermectin and still can't get rid of them I am in desperate need of help, my mom is 81 and her health isn't to good, these monsters crawl up your butt and it has affected our bowel movements. Any help would be greatly appreciated

thank you

Expert Response

I cannot determine what is in the images you provided. But I can tell you that neither rat nor mouse mites will burrow into the skin. Rather both species bite externally (through the skin) to get blood and then they leave the host to digest this blood meal. The best advice that I can give is to continue to work with your Dermatologist who can take skin samples to look for evidence of what may be causing the damage that you are reporting.
