Boxwood dying #773598

The lower leaves on my boxwood have all died, although there is some new growth. Meanwhile, all the top leaves are drying up, shriveling, and dying. It seems to have happened very suddenly. It is 15+ years old.
I can't see any obvious reason for the plant's condition.
Thank you.

Expert Response
Thank you for your question. Has anything been applied to the boxwood, or to the soil around the tree, such as herbicide, insecticide, fungicide, or fertilizer? Has any work been done to the house (pressure washing etc) that anything could have washed into the soil? Usually when we see rapid whole-plant drying/decline like this, it points to either a root issue (too much, too little water), or something had been applied to the plant.
