My hibiscus survived last winter, unprotected. (otter tail county). I was totally surprised when two stems came up late spring and it flowered about 12 or so blossoms. This fall I plan to cover it with straw.
Therefore, I am thinking some of these hardier hibiscus WILL survive in MN, contrary to what is stated on your site. Wish I had kept the name/info about this particular plant.
Thank you

There are 2 kinds of hibiscus: perennial and tropical. Perennial hibiscus is one that survives in MN most years. If the winter is very cold and without snow cover they don’t survive.
The tropical hibiscus does not survive except in zone 10-12.

Perennial hibiscus usually last for several years. A very pretty series is the belle series. They can be grown from seed.
