Retarding ”suckers” on trees #772608
Asked September 21, 2021, 7:07 PM EDT
I recently found some information on the MI State extension that suggested ”napthaleneacetate” be applied to deter tree trunk suckers from reoccuring. Can you give me any information about this? ( I am trying to keep suckers from regrowing on a maple tree.)
Thank you.

Hi Paul,
It looks like there are several products available that contain napthaleneacetate. You can go a google search to find the list of products; then read and follow label directions prior to use. It is commonly used for prevention of root sprouts; it's actually a hormone that inhibits growth.
I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have additional questions.
Thank you,
Julie
