Is this a serious bug problem #772578

Asked September 21, 2021, 4:21 PM EDT

I have a Tatarian Hot Wing Maple which has recently shown some leaf and/or bug problems and I was wondering if there was something that I should be doing now before the leaves fall or plan for in the spring. There are only about 4 or 5 affected areas that I can tell. Thank you for your help. Mark

Hi Mark,

The majority of the leaves look extremely healthy; these few leaves are not causing an adverse effect to the plant. It looks like potentially spider mites (?) which are common after hot, dry summers. You don't need to do anything this winter or spring to prevent this from happening next year. If you want to take an extra step this fall, you can rake the fallen leaves and throw them in the trash.
