Bees in our vent #771607

Asked September 14, 2021, 5:15 PM EDT

We have a large number of bees in our furnace vent that goes to the outside of the house. They are very deep in the vent and we are not sure how to safely remove them safely. They are now getting into the basement.

Expert Response

The "bees" are actually yellow jackets, a type of wasp.  There is no simple way to deal with this, as they are aggressive insects with powerful stingers.  Even if you kill them off, you'll still have to disassemble the duct work to clean or replace it.  I really suggest a professional pest control operator for this situation.
