Apple Tree produces apples with black spots #770688

Asked September 04, 2021, 10:14 AM EDT

Our apple tree produces apples that look amazing with they first start growing and then they start getting either a fungus or bug every year that enters in from outside and destroys the inside of the apple. Is there anything we can spray on the tree to prevent this?

Expert Response

Codling moth damages apples this way. Here’s a page from WSU Extension Service to identify the common apple worms.

Managing Diseases and insects in home orchards, EC631, is our OSU publication. Pages 1-4 have good overall information, including cultural controls. Apples are on pages 5-6.
