sweet corn damage #769239

Asked August 26, 2021, 11:33 AM EDT

Sweet corn, variety Delectable. Some ears have a chewed-away slit in the husk and then some damaged and blackened kernels immediately under the slit are. No evidence of worms or corn borers on the kernels, and no evidence of deer around the garden (plus, sweet corn is contained in electric-fence area). Possibly damage by birds?

Ingham County Michigan

Expert Response
