Is it okay to eat cucumbers from a cucumber vine with downy mildew? #767241

Asked August 13, 2021, 3:55 PM EDT

I have several cucumber vines growing in a raised garden bed. They were producing well until the past week when we had several rain storms and temperatures in or near 100°. The leaves appear to have downy mildew or some other fungus/disease. Attached is a picture of the vine with leaves for identification. I have removed and trashed the cucumber plants but is it okay to eat the cucumbers from the diseased plant?
