What’s wrong with my spruce tree? #766891

Asked August 11, 2021, 12:15 PM EDT

Hi there, We have a 30foot blue spruce tree in our back yard. I’m concerned about it because I’m seeing some browning on a few branches. We live at 8900 feet. The tree has been here about 25 years. I’d love your insights about how to keep this tree healthy. Thank you, April

We are unable to identify the problem from your photographs.  We need photos more close up. If you could, please send us some close up photos in high resolution.

We are recommending our tree team take a look.  Maybe they can help, too.

April,
Thank you for the photographs, they are helpful.
I followed the thread of the conversation and maybe offering redundant information.
If, you have not found any insects, oozing or fungus on the tree, it appears that your beautiful tree suffered winter damage.  Is the browning mostly on one side of the tree and is that the windward side? Winter damage stresses trees and can leave them open to secondary pests. However, from the photographs your tree appears very healthy. This is a wait and watch situation. The brown needles should fall off as the tree produces new needles. There is nothing to be done at this time. Should you notice any other concerning events as mentioned above please contact us again. We have a  team that specializes in advanced tree problems. We would refer you to them.
I hope that this answers your questions. Thank you for contacting us.
Best,
