Hi Curtis, Here is pictorial plant guide you can use to try and select a suitable plant, but yes Ponderosa pine if you have access to some water to get them established. It you are planning to fade out the water it will need to be a native such as Ponderosa pine. I would recommend at least 3-5 years for watering, especially if we continue to have hot, dry summers. You will also need caging until the trees mature to prevent deer damage.
