Sawfly infestation? #766520

Asked August 09, 2021, 1:25 PM EDT

A week ago, I noticed a swarm of bee-like flyers that were unconcerned about me, all over my tiki candles. Today they are everywhere and I got a few pics!! Look like sawflies but this late? Please help? Annoying as heck! Thank you in advance!

Expert Response

There are many sawflies here in Minnesota. I cannot enlarge to see enough detail but this appears to be a common sawfly.  Size would help-were they about a 1/4 inch?  Your observation that they are beelike is helpful.

There are several sawflies that have two generations per summer.  If you can get a higher resolution picture, we may be able to identify which one is at your house.
