invasive vine ID #765828

Asked August 04, 2021, 11:54 PM EDT

Hi. I live against Lake Churchill, which is right next to the Black Hill Reservoir. I've noticed numerous plants which are invasive, but not all I can ID. I'm hoping you can help with the two pics attached. The large-lobed leaf is quite large, the size of a person's hand. The serrated leaf has formed a pretty dense mat over some wildflowers that were planted by Lake Churchill. Thank you. Sherrell

Hello Sherrell,

The first photo appears to show a wild grape, though discerning one species from another can sometimes be challenging. Several native grape species occur in Maryland: https://www.marylandbiodiversity.com/viewChecklist.php?genus=Vitis

The second photo looks like a grape cousin, Porcelainberry, which is invasive and very common in our area.
