Dwarf Mulberry Tree Foreign Growth on Stem #764704

Asked July 29, 2021, 7:13 PM EDT

While checking the health of my Dwarf Mulberry Trees, I noticed an approximately penny sized (in circumference) growth around the base of my plant. I didn't touch it, so I'm not sure whether it's hard or soft.

This interesting little structure is the nest of a type of mud-dauber wasp, appropriately called a potter wasp. They are not an aggressive type of wasp. These links provide more information about them:

Very interesting. Thank you for sharing those informative links, Christa. They are very cute and I'll be sure to leave their nest alone.
