Emerald Ash Borer #763099

Asked July 21, 2021, 5:12 PM EDT

Hello, I live in a town home association in Shoreview. We have been spraying our Ash trees for several years to protect them from Ash Borer. We have been very successful with our project. However, we are wondering if we need to continue with spraying our trees, or is Ash Borer disease under control now. Could you please let me know the status of the Ash Borer. Thank you, Karen McConnell

Expert Response

Treatment to protect high value ash trees from borer damage in Minnesota will be needed indefinitely.

It's possible that biological control or other measures will eventually be found to reduce this pest's population to tolerable levels but that hasn't happened yet.
