Odd large plants in vegetable garden #763051

Hi, a month ago the attached plants started growing in our vegie garden. We did not plant them, and have no idea of what they are. Before pulling them all out (about 70 plants), I wanted to find out what they are first. Any helpappreciated. We live in North Lima. Dave & Kathleen Jones

HI Dave and Kathleen,

Thank you for your gardening question. That is definately a weed and I would pull it out as soon as possible. In the 3rd picture is the fruit- which contains many seeds and you want to get rid of this before they dry and open. It is called velvetleaf - Abuilon theophrasti. It is an annual weed.
